They actually do that pretty regularly. The Aircraft carriers keep old cars, and dummy weight sleds about to launch off the deck when testing.

They also always dress up a car and manikin with Army slogans/dress and launch one for a moral kicker right before the Army/Navy Football game every year. They always video tape it.
