NE 1 use an alum. intake manifold in SW???
 

I found a nice hi rise intake manifold from edelbrock only its aluminium people to me I could use it if I flush after every use in Salt Water!! I trailer the boat so it doesn't see any significant amount of time sitting in the saltwater!! Never overnight!! How long do you guys thing one would last?? 1 year 2, 3...
Does anyone here use one?? I have gotten different opinions on this subject!!

There is at least one guy here on the board that runs aluminum blocks, in the Pacific, all the time. He flushes with Salt Away after every use.
I think he told me he is going on 5 years now.

I've often wondered the same about aluminum heads if taken care of in the manor posted above.

I have aluminum Merlins on mine now. They have been on there two years, but they scare the chit out of me. I'm looking now for the bronze lined intakes. A buddy of mine lost an engine due to aluminum intakes.

Here is a picture of Mercruisers first attempt at EFI. They were made with aluminum intakes. This one got a hole and that was the end of the engine. It had been repaired in this picture. It is circled in red.

you CAN run alum intakes, but there are good iron intakes available for your sbc.

If you do plan to run an alum intake, then beadblast the water passage out, and coat it with several applications of epoxy. THEN still flush after every use.

how do I go about coating it with epoxy just brush it all around the water passage!!! or is there some other trick???
