Who's got a 30ft cat with 496HO's?
 

I'm trying to decide on how to power a new 30ft Liberator cat. It will be a demo boat, so I don't want to spend alot on big power right now. How will this boat perform? It's got a Skater typ bottom, with a center pod that's 8" above the outside sponsons. This is to help stop porpoising. How do your Spectre, Eliminator, Motion, ect run with this power? Thanx, WILDMAN

What about a MC small block/bravo1 package. Add a whipple for less then the 496HO and lighter.
Or skip the bravo and run the arneson conversion drives.

You need to PM Chromecat. This is his American Offshore with stock 496's. I believe he was running in the low 90's. I think he was going to re-power over the winter. He didn't pass us quick enough last year.;)

(thanks, candyman,) I have a 31 american offshore with 496 mag HO's, mercury ITS with sportmaster XR drives. my boat runs really well with this setup. gets on plane well, accelerates well, and does run into the low 90's gps. pm me if you have any questions i'll be happy to answer anything you want. . my American Offshore is a true tunnel no center sponson at all.

Nice boat! I have a friend here with a 3100 w/750's. He runs 120mph. Boat is solid yellow in and out. I love the 3100.

Are you looking to power with single or twins?

I wouldn't consider anything less than HP500's in that cat. Cat's of that size don't sell well if they don't go over 100 mph. Not to mention, they ride nicer at high speeds. I don't think 496's will produce many smilling faces... IMO.

Chuck here as a new Specter 30' with 496HO's. I did a run in his boat in October. We hit 90mph full of gas and 2 persons on it. I think the tell tale said 93 or something.
