NADA Guide Value compared to actual value

Do the NADA guide numbers relate to actual cash values of boats? My goal is buying a boat is to get a fair price for both parties not to get screwed and not to steal a boat. Looking at 1998 Donzi 28zx with 330 hours. Cash deal.
Thanks.

books are of most of the time.. go to boats.com, boat-trader online.. etc etc and do a sreach on the boat and see what other people are selling them for..

I see a lot of boats at dealers with drastically inflated prices.

1998 boat:
BUC book is 41,300 to 45,800
NADA is 40,000 to 48,000

I have seen a lot of private sale boats at the lower NADA value for sale.
