OT - Satelite TV
Does anyone know why some channels (but not all) of my DTV receiver would go out? Could it be snow/ice on the antenna or hardware dying? How do you troubleshoot?
One of the two receivers has had a coupld channels dead for a while now, then a bunch went out (no signal) last night. Some transponders show a signal, while others show 0 strength.
Thanks - Greg

My system was less than a year old so they fixed it for free. The part is about $30-$60 and you can get most of them at radio shack. One bolt holds it on but getting on your roof might be hard to do now. What sys. do you have?

It will be a while before I can do anything as there is no way I can get up on the roof with the 6" of snow and ice that is on it right now.
Thanks -Greg

Lapse, it's a Direct TV system and at least 3-4 years old. I have two systems, each with it's own antenna (before the dual LNB became common) so guess I'll try swapping the connections at the junction under the deck (if it's not encased in ice too).

The leads go from the dish to a junction (cables won't reach) then to the house outlet. Each dish and receiver has it's own lead and junction, it's not a switch. They are Hughes receivers.
