Ok here is the deal. OUr Formula has a 1998 and a 1988 bravo 1 outdrive on it. It is in the torn down state now. The diagnosis is that a drive shaft on one and a prop shaft on another and lower gears in both need to be replaced due to wear and or comd nicks in the gearing.
Im open for suggestions as to what to do.
Thanks

Sounds like you are facing a rebuild. Those are the very first bravo drives. There are numerous upgrades that were made to the drives. A major one was the addition of a oiling passage to the housing. They also made the bullet shape more efficent. It would be worth your time to upgrade to the new housing. Performance Marine in Oshkosh Wisconsin will proably take your old drives in on trade for fresh rebuilds. Rod is a good egg and he will be very fair to you.
