Snow Madness
Am I the only one, or is everyone else sick of all this "Snow Panic"???? Listening to the news and weather, ."This huge winter storm will drop up to 3" of snow on us!" WTF??? 3 inches!!!?? Have we never had snow before. People are wiping out the supermarkets thinking they are getting buried in their houses. the schools close if we get a snowflake falling.
The media scares the s**t out of everyone, acting like its the end of the world everytime it snows. I hate to sound like my grandfather, but I remember 2ft of snow every year and still having to go to school! Why do all these people have SUV's if they are afraid to drive in a little bit of snow:confused:  Just my morning rant!  |
VinMan,
Typical media BULLCHIT! They do the same with politics. IDIOTS! Keep in mind, these are the same people that can be WRONG 85% of teh time and still be considered ACCURATE! |
Bro....I think if you had joined us at the Typhoon Party & After-Party...you wouldn't be so tense.... :D :D

When I lived in NJ (did I actually admit to that?:p ) I do remember school closing with 4 inches. But when was the last time NJ ever had so much snow you couldn't go anywhere? March 1996. And it was only for a day or two. People DEFINITELY over react. Don't worry though, the same thing happens here in the summer when it gets hot.

Originally posted by VinMan I dont even care about the accuracy!! why cant people function in 2" of snow?? It was never like that as far as I can remember Don't feel bad- I went on a very similar rant over in the OT forum a couple of weeks ago:D I grew up in the 60's and 70's- cars were all rear wheel drive; 4-wheel drive was seldom seen except the occasional gas station owner (I drove GTO's). Now everyone and their neighbor has an SUV (that never goes offroad:rolleyes: )and almost all vehicles are front wheel drive at a minimum. And the people drive worse! The same bad forecasting is happening here in the Chi-town area- you can add about 8 hours to the forecast snow start time, and take all of it with a grain of salt, although they dump tons of salt on the roads when the first flake is seen. |
It's not just you Shane and it's not just the snow. They try to make the weather into stories of pending doom of epic proportions.
I'm sick of it, too! |

Same thing here. It borders on rediculous. They've anounced that schools were going to be closed today. Oh well, I drove the wife's car to the morning coffee shop and have the sleds loaded up and pointing north;)

I dont know why they call it Accuweather on the TV :D
|
When I was in school, they used to put the chains on the busses and get us into school just so they could get the state funding and sell their food in the cafeteria, then let us go home, there had to be over 4-5" before they would cancel.. NOW, if they even forcast any snow without even a flake falling they close the shcools.. Probably afraid of lawsuites...

this is out my office right now

around here they are predicting between 3-6 inches and they are closing the schools early...give me a break!! I think we got about an inch of the crap this am but not enough to keep me from anything....
|
I can remember seeing 12 and 13 inches of snow in a single snowfall... and where I grew up.... not once... not once did they ever close the schools.... You just get used to slogging through the slush and snow... putting on chains... and seeing your car develop huge rust blisters after a couple of years of exposure to salted roads.:p
|
I think I would have to agree with BODYSHOT!!!!!!!!!!
|
They do blow it out of proportion but I think we are gonna get closer to 12 inces not 2 inches.
And I agree with Marty.....Vinman.. you need some booty |
When I was a kid, I also remember going to school when there was 4" or less. Now, these schools have my wife and I struggling to find a caregiver for our 7 year old when there is a *threat* of a dusting... It's just plain stupid....A few weeks ago, school was CANCELLED because it was...get this...too COLD. WTF!?!?! They are INSIDE aren't they??
Also, how many times have you seen a prefectly good Front Wheel Drive car having problems getting over a speed bump in a light snow event? Then, when you get closer and see why...WTF?? these idiots have tires worn so much that they probably hydroplane when it drizzles. It's called MAINTENANCE and not very many people look at tread depth anymore....then everyone wonders why there are so many freaking accidents when there is a dusting on the road. They might as well rub oil on the worn tires to increase traction... Forget about the fact that a lot of people have no idea what they should do in a skid.....they should jump out of the car and never drive again. Another rant....sorry..I tried to resist.. Forecast here is for 10"-17" ooo I can't wait! -Larry |

Hey do not involve the Lynch Mob Boyz in this either. Daryl & Daryl are preparing for Daryl's wedding. Lets just say the BOYZ are back in town.
