Default Toyota Solara? opinions?

Driven them 1000's of miles as rentals, really liked them. Thinking about buying one. Anybody have any stories good or bad. Ill probably be getting a 2000 or 2001 with a 6 banger.

They are fine. A little vanilla for a coupe. And a little expensive for a knockabout.

The Camry is probably a better value and is more usable.

But there's nothing to knock if you like em.

My like of them is that I can drive one for an entire tank of fuel (straight) without feeling like I need to get out and stretch or something. Even more comfortable long distance than my caddy. And it handled 77 and 64 through west virginia very nicely at speed. Just the right combination for long distance driving.

Caddy maintenance just getting to be too much.

Mother-in-law has a solara (based on carmy). I agree its pretty vanilla but I like it. Try a STS (mine) before giving up on the Caddy.

Make sure you get the extended warranty with the Caddy.

I just can't buy a 6 cylinder.

Last summer I just bought my forth Camery LE. Love them. Never had any problems run great, look great and made by the same people that make Lexus. Had 2 black, 1 tan and now white. Great car!

My wife is going on 4 years with hers, no problems ever. Nice everyday reliable transportation. Typical Toyota quality, I wish my Ford was as good!!

I was told they are a Camry with 2 doors. Which engine is in them?

The NEW Solara looks great! I was very impressed with looks of the new body. I never did care much for the original, but I have been considering the new style, quite seriously. And I would get it in Vanilla
