OT?-Anyone do custom embroidery?
Was wondering if anyone did any custom embroidery for hats/t-shirts/etc.?
|
There are various shops that do that in malls... They usually sell hats and have a computer controlled embroidery machine...
Check your local mall.. |
|
When you talk to them be sure you get rights to the "stitch file". That way you can have anyone make more in the future. My wife actually got her own computer embroidery amchine (one of her many toys) to avoid the hassle of dealing with shops for stuff.

I'm with you dyno....I figured someone would pipe right up as having a business like this. Maybe we should start one? With 10,000 members all having boats and many of us (most I would guess) like to have matching "stuff"......business opportunity?

Here's the contact info for the guy that did the Yellow Jackets Corvette club stuff for my wife. Setup cost was like $150 to digitize the original design and convert it to a stitch file, then people can just order what they want with the design.

Star Enterprises 14233 Compton Court Orland Park, IL 60467-1089 Fax: 708-460-1662 Star enterprises in Il did my jacket and shirts back in 2002 I found them at the Chicago boat show that year. Did great work. Can do anything from just a photo. They did my jacket and shirts from a picture of my boat. Turned out great. Will be looking at them agian this fall for a new jacket since the one I have now no longer fits. :) Do not remember the cost, which is probably better since it was 2 years ago. |

Rick Did a faboulus job of it too I have sent many people to them and they will be getting more work from me this coming winter. I bought a jacket, two shirts with the boat on the upper left chest, a boarding ensignia also. Wish I would have time to stop by this year when I was there, but missed the show :( |

Here's a recommendation for a shop to digitize your design such that any embroidery shop can sew it from the embroidery list (my wife is a member).

Go to www.puncher.com there prices are really good, and if you aren't happy with the results they edit for free until it is right. (name removed) Balarad is very reasonable, too. I haven't had them do one for me yet but I have gotten a price which was very reasonable. My customer hasn't made a decision yet. Linda |
