dodge hd or superduty 250
finally decided on getting a diesel. problem, i like the ford and dodge.(have always owned a dodge, just not a diesel). have logged some miles in both trucks, just not sure which to get. i like the cab in the dodge and the engine, but do not like that it does not have a 5 speed automatic or a grade shift braking system in the transmission like the ford. the crew cab ford is huge inside, and you can get a moonroof unlike the dodge, but there is no storage under the rear seat. anybody out there with these trucks? opinions? how is the mileage? any help would be appreciated....

I owned Chevy work trucks for years. Then I bought a ford and will never go back. I just bought a 04 F350 diesel 6.0(the new one) and it is amazing. Its alot more quiet than the previous model. I just plowed with it for the first time last night and it was awsum. The power and torque are amazing. Its just my opinion, but I would not buy anything else.

I'd go with the the new Dodge. There are no more
trans problems to deal with , the new interior is
awesome and the styling blows away the others.
Plus the new Cummins 600 will rock.

Its all what YOU like. You will get an owner from each make telling you theirs is the best. They all are competent vehicles that do what you want it to do very well. I bought my 2000 crew 4x4 Ford based on the fact I like Fords, The 7.3 at the time could not be touched, and the styling was excellant.
Today I think Chevy Ford and dodge all have competant powerplants.
Drive em all and you will know which you want!!
HAVE FUN!!!!

Used to be a GM owner as well- I have now had 3 Ford trucks since, and have loved all them. I would never touch a GM again.
Troutly is right- watch your build dates, engine codes etc., and you should be fine with the new 6.0 (you can get all the particulars on thedieselstop.com)
My 7.3 runs so well in my Excursion, I have no need to upgrade for quite a while.

I looked at both Ford and Chevy. I actually just made a screaming deal on a left over 2003 Dodge Cummins Turbo Diesel H.O. Laramie with a 6 speed transmission. I pick it up Thursday! I really did not want the standard transmission, but it was to good a deal to pass.
The local Chevy dealerships did not want to deal and I don't trust the new 6.0 yet.
