Thise scale powerboat vid shows how bove mono's and cats behaves when they are trimmed out the water way to much and start to fly.

The advantage of a cat is that you can put the CG forward and the drives down so it won't take off. Almost any mono will start to be unstabile when it rizes further and further out the water.
This video shows a fast small cat which is very stabile, you won't be able to get a similair sized mono this stable at these speeds.

Mono's are also very impredictible at high speeds and a well setup cat will always be safer.

Since an Apache can't go 120mph I figured it had to be Skater. In rough seas it is always Apache!

i have a 35' fountain thats run in the hundreds, tossed a drive at 95 held on to the wheel and she stayed straight. Chine walking has never been an issue with this boat. ive been on newer ones that fly with less power and they were a lot more sensitive to trim and got squirley in a heart beat. i race a 32' activator that runs real well but she doesn't like too much trim either, we filled the ballest tank in the bow and it settled down. i recently ran a friends boat with him, also a 32' activator to just under 110 and it had minimal chining if any at all, and it had plenty more throttle left, all boats have there own personality and going over a 100 in any boat makes my heart pound, i have limited experience with cats but i would think they are definatly more controllable at an equal speed of 120, though they all should be respected. as a P class racer this also supports the case of having cats race cats and vee's race vee's. be safe, louie

is this thread for real? with an experienced driver in both categories, the cat will run all over a v with much less effort and strain on the motors and all other hardware.

For what it is worth I boat on Lake Cumberland and have only seen 3 boats bobbin upside down all cats from 24 to 36 feet all taking slight turns not hard turns when they hooked and went over. sorry I cant speak to 40 foot plus cats they are out there on the lake from time to time, but have not seen any out of shape yet.

As the owner of both a 95mph 38' Top Gun and a 140mph 37 1/2' Talon Cat.
My Cat is hands down more stable @ 120mph than the Gun is at 90mph .
Both boats will take the very rough water at speed very well if you don't mind beating the crap out of yourself and passengers.
Our Cat at speed in the rough is actually a much better ride then our deep V .
As to 120mph in both boats I have never been over 100mph in a deep V , as I only have my boats as a first hand comparison. It's my Cat hands down at any speed!
