So if you want to come up to NC. maybe we can hook up and play, top speed isn't what I say the Supras can't beat the bikes at but it would be fun to play, I just don't think any car is as fast as the big sportbikes from a stop. I fully admit you will have me in the 1/4 mile since mine only runs low 10s at 150-MPH. The fastest Supra in the 1/4 is 8:90 at 163. The Fastest Supra will lose to the fastest 600cc sportbike I have seen in drag race then, It's lowerd, streched, and on NOS but the motor is stock.

Nobody who's been in both in excess of 100mph has any question about big cats being more stable ( and safer ) at big speeds :rolleyes: The point is moot, as a matter of fact my big problem ( and I think for some others) is loosing touch with the speed at which you are traveling. Sitting down behind quarter canopies ( and with less pounding) I lose touch and have to force myself to focus, it's kinda surreal.
I do feel that the difference between a 36' and a 40'+ cat is substantial in the rough. After many hours of running next to and watching the smaller ones( under 39') trying to run in the rough( not pretty), I've literally slowed down so as not to tempt them into a problem. Why don't I own a cat ? Cause there is more to boating than just going fast, and the sensations that I grew up with and look forward to when I push the throttles forward just aren't there for me, go figure... T2x The crash in Baltimore and the sinking of my boat, Dramamine, was not a result of chine walking, Mr. Lily and his new driver ( John Morris) simply hooked in the turn and ran over Bruce and Jeff. I will say that the 1999 Pier 57 Fountain had one of the nastiest chine walks ever, that thing "tested" Art regularly. Jim |

Jim Having flown over that boat, in a helicopter..that day... and............ commented on TV that the rookie John Morris could not get the chine walk out of the hull for the entire race leading up to the crash...... and........ having predicted to our cameraman and pilot...to stay on that boat..... because....... I knew 2 laps before the accident that it was definitely going over.....I have to disagree with you and state that, at the very least, chine walking contributed to the hook and roll that ended with the "t-boning" you mentioned. I always enjoyed your boat....and covered it and your team favorably...... but this was a case of the other boat wobbling all over the course on the ragged edge. regards: Rich |
