New V-10 Shelby Cobra
Check out latest Motor Trend. Ol Shel wants to go out with Ford. Looks like a strong possibility that this car will become a reality. 600 hp, 0-60 in 3.3, price around $ 95,000.00, sounds like a Viper Killer to me. Looks very much like the original, only a little more updated. Same basic lines. Nice........

Watched a special on TV about the design and construction of it.
Shelby had a slight hand in the design and gave his blessing to it before they built a running example. After it was built Ford hauled it to Texas for him to evaluate. After a run around a race track he was doing smokey doughnuts with it. All the while he had a big grin on his face. To who else would Ford trust a billion dollor, one of a kind car too? |
I saw that TV show too, tell me those guys were not scared as hell that he would stuff it into the wall.
|
Even at his age, he can probably outdrive 99.9% of us.
|
Oh I know that, but it was still a one off car, anything could happen. I don't know if you have seen the TV show but he is smoking it up pretty good about 20 feet from a wall.
|
If either one of us had the chance, we'd be "smokin" it up pretty good too.
|
Man, I'm glad I'm in that .01% :D :D
Car looks pretty good too. Just got my Motor Trend but haven't had a chance to read it yet. |
"Lapse", what did you think of the car?
|
Oh hell yea, I hope they build it. It might be the last car he has anything to do with.

I just got back from the Chicago Auto show. They had the car there. I think they did the car a big diservice because they had the hood up in a verticle position to show off the engine. It ruined the lines of the car and took away any resembelence to the original. Everything in the engine compartment was polished aluminium though.
There was about 20 million people there today and lokking at anything was difficult. F |

Nice speeds and if your over 90 in most states you go in the clink and your boat insurance says CYA.
No thanks I'll stay on the water for my fun. |
WTF they got such a tall gear in it?
Put a 150 mph 5th gear in it and a real tall OD 6th and space the ratios out for street fun. |
Wow that will be one fast ride, I like the look of it too but a little over my price range for a first vehicle haha.
|
I still like the looks of the original....
This will be my next toy. Built by Kirkham, aluminum body, as close to an original as they come but better. 427 side oiler, 500 hp, 0-60 in 3.5 seconds... The Cobra has always been my favorite car. http://www.kirkhammotorsports.com/photos/blue_1.jpg |
I agree.... nothing beats the Original!!!
And I'm not talking about Coors ;) I have been thinking about doing one of those project kits. Anyone one here done it before? Anyone buy a completed kit before? Thanks.... OB21 |

Pretty snazzy

I watched the show about the making of this new model. I love everything about it except the exterior design. It doesn't have the beautiful flowing (rounded) lines of the original... especially in the front. I think they really dropped the ball on this one.:(
Now the GT (40) on the other hand is a real tribute to the original.;) |
I was kind of dissapointed withthe front grill opening. They didn't quite put enought thought into it. Otherwise I really like it.

"HC", I agree, the original is still "the" car to own. That picture you posted is just flat ass gorgous. I got a ride in an original 66' with a Holmon-Moody prepped 427 side oiler making around 650/675 hp, and that thing would pin your ass in the seat like you were in a rocket sled. Car ran consistent low, low 11's at the strip. That was my favorite car of all time.
