JL, how much did you pay to have the cladding painted? I am considering it on mine. How is it holding up? Yours looks FANTASTIC.

I'm with Sydways and JL. Why decide when you can have both with an Avalanche. Seats 5 (6 with a front bench), pulls 12000#, hauls full sheets of plywood fully covered, and still fits in a normal garage. Try that with a crew cab or an SUV...

It cost me $2,800 and I did a lot of the sanding. Needless to say, a lot of sweat and tears, but well worth the effort.

It is going on a year now without any problems.

GET BOTH

I have an Avalanche 2500 - pulls 12,000 lbs, has a bed in the back.

Wannabe

Did your Ford dealer tell you that??? Show me some valid statistics on that, not your opinion…:D

Troutly you are right they are fugly, what will happen to that plastic sitting on top of the bed over the years. I am sure it will start to discolor or fade, just my .02

Troutly, would a formula owner ever buy one of those things?:D

As for re-sale, drive any lot around here and look at what they go for as compared to a Crew Cab pickup as closely matched in options as possible. I mean, every time I see one I expect to see a Velocity being towed behind it! :D :D
 :p

Well, the Crew Cab pickup does have a decade + of production over the Avalanche which would give any Vehicle a selling advantage. Athough, I do see more on the road everyday, and I'm yet to see one on a local lot for sale. Give it sometime to grow on you!

GOOD LUCK with your new ride!

and , its all good!!! I'm a happy guy...leaving for Miami this weekend. :D

Actually you'd be right if you said "not many, except when compared to a Crew Cab Pickup."
2003 US Avalanche sales ~ 92,000. (all designated as crew cab)
US Silverado Crew Cab sales of 1500 and 2500 series (direct competition for the Av) ~ 95,000. 3500 crew cabs add just another 11,000. Silverado total is just under 700,000 units.

I got your stats right here...:D :D

I pull 9,000 lbs with my Excursion hauling 8 people and their gear to Lake Mead in 105 summer heat and still get 11-12 mpg towing after the lift and tires. My dad has an Excursion also and pulls 13,000 lbs. The key to making an Excursion into a great towing machine is adding a Hellwig rear sway bar $130, not the wimpy factory unit. Whatever you get I would stongly recommend a diesel.
