Poker Run if I could only do one.
Florida Powerboat Club Key West Hands Down.
I'll be the first to admit that I do not have all the experience that some of my esteemed colleagues do.
But of the runs that I've had the chance to participate in the FPC Key West Run is the one that I'd recommend first, especially to any boater that has not had a chance to sample the Keys yet.
You have a great combination of Intercoastal (calm water) cruising 50-70 mph. Anything from the wide open spaces of Biscayne Bay to the narrower Mangrove Stands of the Upper Keys. Then you can go Wide Open Full Throttle if you want from Bahia Honda at the 7 Mile Bridge to Key West. (The last 35 miles all Open Ocean)
This is also one of the longest Poker Runs of the Year. Both in time, Leave on Friday and come home on Monday for many of us. And also distance (approx 190 nm one way).
Key West is a legendary destination with tons of stuff to do (Race or no Race)and any offshore boater worth his salt should get there at least once.
Just my .02 cents,
