Not sure about how agressive they are but the guy told us that they are often times were Bone fish are. That is what we were fishing for. He did not seem suprised at all that we had one on the hook. At the time I did not think about stuffing it. Now I wish we had!!!!

For what its worth you can contact Grey taxidermist in Pompano bch and they can offer cancelled orders/previous molds for any fish you want. A bit pricey but they do a nice job. I happened to save the $300. on shipping when I sent my own truck to pick it up. If you need the ph# let me know and I'll help you out with the trucking.

The days of having to kill the catch to mount it are gone. Taxidermists do not do skin mounts anymore, they mold em and cast em in glass.Grays, King Sailfish and a few others have molds of anything you catch unles it happens to be a new worlds record..
Also, measure the catch, then call a taxidermist yourself. If the charter boat captain does, it doubles the price... I know several captains here who make a living off the mounts more so than the charters, including one who specializes in shark fishing...

BTW, Black Tips are a light tackle gas!! i fish 8 - 10 lb test, 40# mono leader with 12" of wire at the end for abrasion resistance for them on whippy lil rods. They run, they jump, great fighters for awhile

I have two in my basement that came from Grey's. One is a lemon the other is a nurse. They are both about seven feet and were caught on a night charter in Key West three years ago. I don't remember what I paid for the glass mounts but it was a little pricey. I think it was about $750 each. They did ship them together and the freight was about $500 to get them to Indy. A bit expensive but what the hell they look good in the pool room.

Ah, that must be the shark that came up to look at the logo on my Sonic a few weeks ago. We were slowly approaching the Miami harbour entrance bridge the day after the OSO lunch run, and a great big fin was not ten feet off the instrument panel. It was largely grey but black on the rear of the fin.
I was so excited and pointing at it, I did not get a good look at the Sonic idling in the opposite direction. If it was anybody on this board, now you know why I was opening and closing one hand and pointing with the other. <gg>
