That's a pretty tough one to justify. Some seasons I'll put on 200+ hrs. ..Even if I could afford it the downtime would kill me!

We talked to the Merc guys a while about this engine at the Miami show and they told us $108,000.00 should be about the price we would pay for the complete setup.

As for rebuilds they said 60 Hours!

It seems like you hear a lot of different things, but the one thing I know is that they are too expensive for me and at 60 hours, based on my last five years of boating, I would not get one full season in!

Would be great for a Poker Run Only Boat!

One other interesting fact from the Merc guy.

When the 1075 is coupled to the #6 drive it only requires 17 HP to pull the drive. That is not much!

So, is the 60 hour tear-down needed every 60 hours, or is this done early on to ensure everything is OK?

I was told by another person that one should see many more hours (~200 hrs) of use after the first rebuild on the 1075s. Any truth?

Also, I would imaging how hard you run the engines will play a big factor in how soon rebuilds are needed.

For 150K they better take WOT for the 60 hours until the first rebuild.

Maybe at idle, but not under load. Fugure 8%, or 84 hp...
