BRT Boats
Has anyone owned a BRT, met the guy who used to make them in Miami yesterday, very nice guy, and he had a nice one at the marina, looking for any info and or pics, thanks: Matt
|
You must have met Paul Barros, he used to make them in New Bedford Ma.I know him well and have worked on a lot of them. They are like a 24 Superboat, Pantera, P+D Marine. They are pretty light. A 350 Merc package the boats went about 58 mph. He has a red one with a big block and drive we just did over.It runs about 68 mph.
|
Yes, it was Paul, we talked for a while at the marina, great guy, after looking at his boat I am interested in finding one myself, seemed like it was solid and has a very nice, classic look, do you have any pics you could post Marinetrans?, thanks:Matt
|
I'll look tommorow but I don't know if I have any. Sometimes you can find them in NJ, NY or CT. Alot of them have 350s.I think a couple had outboards. One or two had a speedmaster set-up. They fit 2 people well, but 3 or 4 would be tough. Good rough water boat.

Marinetrans: any pics would be appreciated, finding one with a speedy on it would be cool...thanks: Matt
|
May have some pictures of a BRT called HOOZ YOUR DADDY we had in the shop. Lets see if my scanner works tommorow night.:)

Re: BRT Boats
Thx for the replies. My dad remembers the pantera, MarineTrans.
As for the molds, supposibly the 24's are in cape cod area, somewhere. I do know these molds get passed around and are being produced by other companies. Ironicly i believe the BRT were made from other companies molds, just altered. But i know yous knew that :D. I do know where a 27 footer mold is. Needs some fixing to be worthy, but i dont think my dad has spoken to him in a while, not sure if he still has the mold. It sat outside last i knew when i was a little guy. |
87 BRT 24 Outboard
Found one locally really good price. Planning on Snatchin it up this weekend. Will post photo's as soon as I get it home.

24 BRT outboard model
Well got it home. It's an 1987. Outboard. I found it on Craigs list. $500 or best offer. I got it for $450. It had no wheels or hubs on it. The grass and vines and weeds had grown over the trailer frame and the hull itself. The previous owner died a few years ago. He had purchased brand new hubs and 4 brand new tires for the trailer before he passed. I spent all of Sunday last week digging it out of the weeds and jacking it up. Monday morning I put on the new hubs and tires, the trailer lights still worked. I trailered it home 85 miles without a problem. It's cleaning up pretty good. Found one tree growing up out of the drivers seat and a second tree growing up from the passenger side. Stripped the interior. Planning on putting drop down bolsters in it. Cabin cushions were good and cleaned up nice with some shampoo. Cleaning up the hull presently. Red is coming back. I'm using Meguires oxydation remover and polish. It has not been in the water since 92. It has a 1986 Mariner 2.4 litre EFI Magnum. It has a blown lower unit. The case is cracked. So I will need a lower unit. Also the starter is toast. I was able to perform a compression test and all six cylinders are within 5 pounds. Not sure what the horsepower is. Google has not come up with a good number yet. Have not figured out yet insert photos. Wants a URL name.
Crystal River River Rat! |
SIM,
I'd say you stole it!!! Congratulations! post pics of the restore. |
Please post some pics, those boats are cool. Good find.

Hey I have a 24 BRT down here in Texas. My buddy built it from a shell, he has some awesome pics and did an unbelieveable job making this into one of the cleanest boats around. It is definitely a head-turner and runs it's ass off. I enjoy smoking all the 100K boats and the popping the hood to show them one engine!

Big24, welcome to OSO. Your statement sounds like a "Triple Digits" statement.
