Hey Brian,
I ordered the Merc actuators, Kurt told me that is what he used. They came in Monday but I won't be able to try them on until Saturday. I'll let you know how they work.

I was hoping to test run it April 30 but I have alot to do yet so I may wait till the following weekend.

I can only work on it on the weekends.

Have you run your this year yet?

You certainly didn't waste any time!

I had the same issue with the muffler clearance and solved it with a pair of GGB clamp ons.

How did you modify the tie bar?

Hey Mark,

I've got the Merc actuators, too (2 sets now). The original set that clamped on to my TRS trim cyls were usable, but took some tweeking to fit the bigger Konrad trim cyls. You'll need to make the radius of the "saddle" larger on the trim actuator to match the Konrad trim cyl housing on the front side, and the ram arm on the rear side. The clamps are tack-welded on, so we removed them and put on a bigger set of clamps. Those clamps are showing some surface corrosion, so I want to replace them.

I'm also installing a second set of trim indicators for my port side throttle station. I'm going to install a second set of trim actuators to the "other" trim ram for each drive, and I'll need clamps for those, too. Looks like you're a bit ahead of me with your project, so I figured I'd ask to see what you've found out.

I just got my boat back from the glass shop yesterday. We added 4 more stringers in the bilge to stiffen the bottom under the motors. I found some stress going on under there, so we tightened it up a lot. Key West was hard on things last fall.

I just got the first coat of Awlgrip on the bilge tonight, so this weekend I'll be ready to start re-rigging hoses, battery boxes, motor mounts, etc. I also have some dash work to do on the port side, adding gauges, trim indicators, throttles. The motors are done and 95% dressed, so I'm looking at 2-3 weeks before I'm ready to splash. Shooting for early May.

I've got a new throttleman on my team, Lee Raleigh, and he's been a tremendous help in this project. He's got good ideas, and is a great wrench. We're scrambling so we'll have time for him to get used to running my boat. He's got 15 yrs racing/throttling, but each boat is different.

It's gonna be a good year for the Konrad Team!

I don't see any spacers in these drives... you're doing the right thing! I like where your x-dim is ending up.

I'll venture a guess that you're REALLY going to like the difference in performance.

Thanks Kurt were really happy so far.

We havn't finished the tie bar modification yet. I will post it once it's done. Basically it's just going to move it out and down alittle to clear the mufflers.

Sounds like alot of work but it should be worth it.
Good luck with the new throttle man.
So when are the Konrad Racing Team shirts coming out?

These are the actuators I ordered. The ones you are talking about are like the ones I had. These should work better as the clamps are seperate pieces.

I figure the original rigging was pretty conservative.
The raised X should help a bit. we'll be doing some prop testing in a couple weeks.

Hmmm,

Here's mine, same as the ones that were on my TRS's. Got them thru Trick Marine, sold as a Merc Bravo trim actuator. They clamp on to the trim cyl housing in the front, and the trim ram arm on the rear end.


Looks like we're dealing with different parts. How do yours attach?

Ask Fred or Kurt about the shirts... I'd like a few myself!
