Konrad Drives

I too,saw the Konrad drives at the show and was very impressed. They seem to think that these drives can handle way bigger power than what is warrantied. Richard told me that even if you had more hp and torque he believes the drive can handle it. Also there are some heavy boats with a lot more torque running these drives without failure. Looks like a good option.
Some of the informatiion on the brochure:
They have ratios of 1.21:1, 1.33.:1, 1.51:1, 1.69:1
Operates in either rh or lh rotation--transmission reqd"
Full Immersion, seven quarts with external reservoir

There were references to the Hong Kong vessels earlier so I decided to post the details:

Damen Shipyards ( www.damen.nl) in the Netherlands manufactures the aluminum vessel attached. These vessels were specifically designed to intercept and disable vessels smuggling goods into mainland China.

The vessels have a reinforced bow which enables them to disable the outboards on the target vessel. The other requirements were to perform commercially at 40 kts in sea state 5 and 60 kts in sea state 3. This makes them quite heavy at 18-20,000 pounds.

The vessel was outfitted with Innovation 575 hp engines, Huber HM 1200 gears and Konrad 540 drives. The systems are required to run continuously.

What is the stern lock website?

on my cig the prop shaft centerline is dead center with the keel. i thought that was a high x to start with. going up inch and a half higher than the keel i think would cause me problems , any input??how high could you go on a single motor with no extension box??

FSPROPELLER 03-08-2004 06:05 PM

Open 72:

for the Konrad 540, there are standard extensions up to 3 inch available for the 540 so if you determined your ideal x, it should be possible.

open87 03-08-2004 06:40 PM

the x that it is at now seems great - tuck the drive in and carves like a ginsu, trim it out and she would move . my concern would be if i went higher would that cause blowout, cavitation, or something bad. on a single motor how high could you go above the keel????
