Scorpion boats anyone?
Anyone heard of Scorpion boats? My guess is a So Florida builder. Saw an add for a 33 center console, but have never heard of them before.
Thanks - Greg |
Scorpion Power Boats was located here in Miami Fl,
the owner was Julio de Varona. He was Willie Diaz driver in the EL BOSS V-bottom CIG. Franks Marine A class boat that won many races ran a 24 Scorpion in the 90`s. I dont know of a 33, however is 32 Elegante full cabin with twin I/O`S had good success even with the marine patrol. As far as I`m concern he only had a 32 center console used by alot boaters down here with twin outboards. He also made a 37 center console, but he made his mark with his 32 with outboards in breaking the Miami to New York race back in the 80`s. If I can answer something else you can PM me and I will ask him myself. He also raced a Cat called Auto Connection when the races used to be from Miami to Nassau. |

You need to talk to BruceK on this forum. He raced a scorpion in APBA for a number of years. His boat was B-99 "Unleashed" and it was pretty fast (100mph +).

i wanna see it too!:hammy:

It's back on the radar screen. Needs some work but is priced right and has recent power. Time will tell.

Well, I think I bought a 32 Scorpion center console. Rick took a look at it for me last weekend, and the survey is Friday. Should know for sure if it will all come together by next week.

Surprizingly I don't have one that shows the whole boat (too small in his yard to fit in one frame) but here is the back half.....

... and this is the front. The graphics have got to go, but at least it's vinyl so is an easy change.

Does anyone have any information on scorpion boats made by Poshe Marine of N AM out of Hollywood Florida ? I recently purchase one from 1990 but i can't find any info.
|
The early Scorpion from 87 to earlier 90's and 2000's-2005ish has been owned by the original owner and legendary Julio De Varona. If you own a boat from this era and built by him you have one awesome fast rough water boat. I am really good friends with him and talk to him weekly.

I just purchase a 90 scorpion boat. The manufacturer is Porshe Marine of N AM. I can't find any information. Does anyone knows about it ?

Man I would love to get back in touch with him. I visited Julio's daughter in the hospital when when she had her fatal accident and lost touch with Julio after that. It's like he dropped off the face of the earth.
