Question Question about Stolen Drives?

I've noticed that all too frequently someone is posting an alert that they have had their drives stolen....

My question is re: Outdrive Locks?

MY insurance Co. made it mandatory for me to install drive locks(& prop locks) on my boat in order to write the policy....and i did!

So what i am wondering is... Are people using locks on their drives?

and if so... are the thieves that good? or are the locks that useless?
(useless to a degree, obviously it's always better to have locks as opposed to nothing)

or are we just hearing about the ones that had no locks?

Just wondering? Maybe we should post a poll? i"ll leave that up to the mega posters on the site! I read more than i post (obviously)

Default outdrive locks

Take a look at STERNLOCK,they are an OSO sponsor. They cost a little more but are a lot more effective than the locks sold in the mainstream marine supply stores.

I think they indicated that locks were installed, could be wrong. Remember locks of any type only keep the honest people from taking it, if someone wants it bad enough they will find a way to take it. It really sucks that we have to lock up everything we have worked to buy so someone can take it from us.

That's about as bad as not putting a Lo-jack system on a boat. any boat that is $100K or more should come with it.
