Coupler info needed

I have about 100+ hrs on my couplers. I removed 1 Bravo drive today and looked at the coupler and the splines are wearing and sharp. The motors are procharged 502s pushing 650 hp (supposedly).

What is the life of a coupler on high hp motors with proper alignment?

Is there an hp coupler?

Or am I going to be replacing them every season or so?

Merc makes a coupler w/ steel insert used on HP motors. Are you using Merc's Spline Grease cause it does make a difference. Possible motors are out of alignment. Do the drives come off hard? If they do its alignment or mounts. I see couplers w/ alot of hours on them and they are fine.

I ran 650 H.P. motors for over 200 hours without any problems. Alignment problem will wear out a coupler prematurely. I have a good one for $100 plus shipping (went to newer boat with extension boxes). Call me @ 419-882-1680 if you are interested in it.

Thanks Reddog

The the alignment is good and the coupler wear is even. I suspect it is from lack of grease as it is dry.
