Moving up

Well maybe. I'm going to Pier 57 this weekend to test drive a 2004 38 Lightning. I currently have a 32 Fever. Can anyone help me out with the dreaded insurance? What can I expect to pay and does anyone have a recommendation? Thanks

A lot depends on the hp. Also, will you be traveling or just local?

Good luck! Maybe some yr I'll be doing the same.

38ft Fountain.......I would guess with a clean record and no claims............3700.00 to 6000.00 depending on motors

Well the best I have found so far is $3700 with a 4% deductible. That is with 525 engines and speed of 90. I'm still looking. It pretty bad when the cost of insurance can make the difference between getting or not getting a new boat. Something needs to be done.

Worldwide in the advertisers section was the cheapest I have found so far.

If you have a business and have commercial insurance.......it is best to see them and squeeze them. I was in the same boat (no pun)....and the insurance on the new boat was between 3400.00 and 6000.00 with 525's. I finally got it through my commercial business insurance carrier for 1183.00

I've got World Wide. Bob will take good care of you.

I used to be with Bob and there was a time when they stopped doing high performance so I got a notice to seek other insurance. I went with Total Dollar and then to Blackadar. I will give Bob a call. Last time I called him we talked about the Smoke on the Water Poker run for about an hour. Nice guy.

Bob Luellen (or however you spell his name) is a great guy.
SEADATED.......I have my insurance for the cat with him...........they were not the ones that stopped insuring....the insurance company did. There are only 2 insurance companies that write hi end and speed boats.......MARKEL is one of them
But anyway, I finally got to meet Bob at the OSO (Friday gig) in Miami.....again great guy

Can you gie me the name of that commercial insurance carrier? I've been trying to find one to do something like that. Thanks!

Westfield Insurance Company, I use a Broker ....whom has done my insurance for everything except boats. I had to train her to know about boats so she could talk to the underwriter.
They will not cover the "Cat", but did cover the 380 PQ....with bigger motors (525's)
Believe it or not..Bob Luellen was the person who advised me on what to ask and look for...so, I went to my Broker
