Don't forget the Sarasota Offshore Showdown (SOS) "Playing for a Cure" Spring Poker Run Saturday May 15, with the Hyatt as the host hotel. Will be posting all the finalized details tomorrow. It will be fun.

DanB:

Caloosa Isle is between the 41 bridge and the MidPoint bridge, between channel markers 54 and 58.

Hope that helps.

mega byte, i would love to have you join me, that would be great, this is what we will be riding in.

otis311 03-04-2004 07:30 PM

Huge, Dont worry about needing a crew that knows the water, You wont be anywheres near the front

This aint Lake George anymore...Your playing with the big dogs now pal

otis311 03-04-2004 07:32 PM

On second thought, you better get an experienced crew because after about 3 minutes you will loose sight from the roosters of all those #6 drives and you will need to know where you are going !!

Have fun

Bob

Bingo! You ain't running a buck twenty in 6 ft real seas your sucking wind in those.

Donzi Corleone 03-04-2004 07:57 PM

Otis,GLH,
You guyz are too much............LMAO

HUGE,
THERE DEAD ON BALLS RIGHT...I've been to these runs and there is serious hardware at these events..If you've been doing poker runs on lakes, get ready for a rude awakening. Wear the Lifelines cause they will make you push the limits..

GLH 03-04-2004 08:13 PM

Speed2Lead,
Huge will be all set... He'll sell the castle on lake george and shoehorn a couple Sterling 1400's in the Hustler 26 with #6's and the only problem will be for him to figure out how to get the boat in at the ramp at 30 mph so it'll already be on plane and won't sink from behind.
After that he'll be sitting in butter! ;) :D:D:D

Where are you Huge!!!! LMAO :D

otis311 03-04-2004 09:22 PM

Jason my friend, You need to sit down and think about what you just stated. Its all about having fun and being safe. Believe me when I say this, Running your little cabbage patch boat wide open out in the REAL water is not and never will be safe. Nothing good can come out of you running your boat like that. You will impress NO ONE at these events by trying it either. So just sit back and cruise at a safe speed and enjoy the event

Im not busting your nut here, just trying to state a fact and get a point across to you

Bob

Hugetime:

I'll be driving myself. I will check around for a crew who knows the local waters. Although, what has been stated above is correct, local knowledge is not all that important with this locale. There is plenty of water and good times to be had. I'll be at the back of the pack.

T

hugetime1 03-05-2004 06:52 AM

you guys are right, I was just messin with gl a little bit. I have no intention on being un safe or hurting anybody for that matter. I am a little crazy at times but not stupid. I am fully well aware that I am responsible for other people in the boat and I always operate my boat in a fairly safe manner. like I said I was just tryin to ruffle gl's feathers a little. I should also remember that the have been some serious accidents latley were people where seriously hurt and I mean't no disrespect. just a little trash talkin, sorry.

hugetime1 03-05-2004 07:02 AM

megabyte don't get the wrong impresion about me, I know these guys and was just givin it back to them a little. If you still want to ride with me we will go slow, mainly due to the fact that I don't have much choice, the boat only goes 70...lol ... but seriously I don't have a death wish , I am a responsible boater and we will make it back for the party and yes we will be way at the back of the pack.

MegaByte*3 03-05-2004 08:20 AM

Hugetime1: No problem w/ me. I just want to drive my fountain with the wife and kids. They are the reason that we'll be at the back of the pack. I won't be able to keep up with the serious hardware anyway.

otis311 03-05-2004 03:36 PM

You were scaring me a little there Jason. With all that has happened to me and my boating accident several years ago and now with the death of Byron on Monday, coupled with turning 40 next month, The BIG picture is much clearer to me then it used to be. You remind me alot of myself back a few years ago. The waters can get big on the Gulf and is much different boating then what we are used to. Just be careful and get used to your new surroundings.

GL and I were out in some bigger water last Monday in Ft Laudredale and we were both running hard and it took me about 4 minutes to relize that it aint worth it, that if the boat didnt break, my body was going to

Bob

DanB 03-05-2004 05:25 PM

Not to worry..the gulf is pretty calm this time of year, and even when its rough its not that bad. the thing you need to watch for is shallow water and pot markers. Always stay in the marked channels when near shore!!!!!
Look foward to meeting you.

Hey Jason, if I dont have my boat down there by then I would be more than happy to help you out. Dont know the water but do know my way around a boat. If I do have the boat down there, would love to run with you guys. And knowing what everyone else runs down here. I will be in the back. :p

Velocity Tom 03-10-2004 05:59 PM
