Late 80's I had a 15' hydrostream speedboat that I towed with an 83 GT mustang 5spd. The ramp was steep and full of algae, back down the ramp, set the emergency brake and put it in 1st. gear. Start cranking, the boat's 1/2 up the trailer when the car starts sliding back. I jump off try to open passenger door but it's locked, car still sliding run to driver's get in start car now rear wheels are slightly in. 1st spinning wheels, still sliding, pop 2nd. spinning wheels not a thing I could do 4" over the roof. The funny thing was after I knew it was hopeless I turned off the car got out what else could I do, turn around and with nothing on in the car the parking lights with the help of salt water that completed the circuit were glowing a nice amber visible thru the beautiful green colored NY water. Every thing electric in the car was replaced after that and it ran better than ever.

There's a beach in Indiana on Lake Michigan called "Jet Ski Beach" (for obvious reasons). I've watched plenty of boat launch idiocy (have been known to order pizza to the harbor on busy weekends and sit at the ramp), but nothing compared to JetSkiier idiocy. The "launch ramp" at the beach is actually just an area of sand that's been dug out by a frontloader and leads up to a parking lot. Anyway, a pair of guys show up in a new Mustang w/a brand new SeaDoo in tow, bass pumping, incredibly loud stereo....so everyone would look. Back the car down, float the ski with one guy on board, and cool as you like, without ever turning down the stereo, the car takes off up the ramp. Yeah, well, the dude on the ski forgot to undo the bow strap...and was dragged across the parking lot by his cool friend who couldn't hear the screams to stop...

These are some good laughs before bed. Keep these stories coming. Often I've heard people say they hung out at boat ramps all day with a cooler just to get good laughs at some idiots.
Sounds like something I'm going to do on some boring Saturday this summer.

Here is one for you guys... Same Ramp at Marina Del Rey... I know I've told this one before in one of the threads.... It was hot last summer.. (over 100 in the valley) so I decided to drive to the beach and take a bike ride along the bike path... There is a paved path that goes all the way from El Segundo by the airport to Malibu up north.. ( about 25 miles) So I start down in the Marina... take a detour to the ramp and watch the action. I see a coast guard boat escorting a small open bow boat to the dock. When I look closer... I can see this 16 foot boat must have 8 overweight Mexican adults and 4 children... and one Chihuahua being held in the arms of one of the women. Any way... the boat was seen heading out the channel to the breakwater when the Coasties decided that since the gunwales were only 2 inches above the water that one tiny wave the thing was going under..... Not a single one of them spoke any English... and they didn't have 2 life preservers between them. The coastie was waving his arms and trying to make these idiots understand that they were all going to die doing such a stupid thing. Luckily for the Coastie some one translated for him and the people offloaded from the boat and he got back into his Coast Guard Boat and took off....

Launching a couple years ago for the Chicago air and water show. The guy in front of us doing everything wrong. Taking forever, loading the cooler and junk after the boat is in the water. So I voice my opinoin and tell him what I think. My turn now and of course I proclaim that this will be an example of how its done. Slipped on the algae and did a header into the water under my trailer. Nearly took out my teeth on the trailer and managed to break a toe. Got a big round of applause but...I still got the boat launched in a timely manner
