have to change cam, head gaskets, valves, oil pan, etc... all you can really use is the block , rods, pistions.

Ummm, why? I can see changing gaskets and oilpan, why cam and valves?

inconel is a must for the exhaust, plus guide work , heads are not hardcoat anodized. that cam could work if it is dry pipes, otherwise i belive it would have a serious reversion problem plus the intake doesn't have bronze crossover and the carb has no J tubes. for that kinda scratch you could really get a complete marinized motor complete. but this motor could work with closed cooling(another 800 clams) and if you were ok with the carb not meeting CG approval. still gotta do the valves, pan and gaskets though.

Don't need inconel valves unless its blown.
Needs brass freeze plugs.
Needs J-tubes and flame arrestor and swap the supplied starter for a marine starter.

Many guys are running the ZZ502 cam with aftermarket manifolds and extended tailpipes with no troubles with reversion.

If freshwater, it will make a good setup.

If salt, then you gotta get a marine intake and hardcoat the heads or put closed cooling on it.

I ran the ZZ502 motor in a 280 Velocity for 3 seasons without a single problem. Swapped oil pans & added roller rockers & stainless marine exhaust, other than that in was stock out of the box.

Default Street crate block In the Marine environment...

Blower pistons are a must with that much power expected out of it...and a high quality set of rings too.
More clearance in the rod bearings for oil flow to remove heat from the bearings.
Re balancing the rotating assy...If its anything like the ZZ502 it will rattle it's self to death in no time.
If your looking for a 1000hp blower motor you better plunk down the cash for top of the line internals...not to mention a beefy aftermarket block...There is no such thing as a cheap marine blower motor making 700+hp.
I not slamming this bad assed crate motor, but it is not for powerboats...I read alot about people blowing up the 502s running them at the track.
I know nothing about detailed marine engine building but learned a bit while having mine built.

Oh, and we did'nt even talk cams and valve train yet....
