HydraStream's I think are the biggest death traps. Had one 6 years ago. The thing was insane. I personally almost killed myself in it. A good friend of mine that was good at driving those type of boats at high speeds got it up around 100mph.
Never again. I'll stick to the bigger/slower boats now.

How about a '95 F-14 Sea-Rayder, 90hp Mercury Sport Jet? Lot's of fun and unless somebody runs over you, safe!

I'll be laying up a hull this summer! It's a 17' cat and it has a center pod. Should be a lot of fun.

glassdave 03-09-2004 12:25 PM

took some notes at Skater huh Cord. :D :D what did you end up finding to build?

Cord 03-09-2004 01:25 PM

I took alot of notes. Litterally a walking sponge. Too bad they won't answer anymore questions.

It's a 17' cat. I'll be picking up the molds in the next couple of weeks. I really don't have much history on the hull as the seller received them as a judgement.

check out www.screamandfly.com
Its where the little boat guys buy and sell their stuff.

I have a friend with a 16ft Hydrostream with a blown 355ci motor 85+mph, scarry quick too!!!:D
In fact I think it's for sale, if anyone is interested I'll find out.

Ben@SRP 03-09-2004 08:11 PM

PorscheSpeed,
I have a 12' Cat with a 85hp outboard that is being re-rigged and painted now. I might sell it, I bought it as project like you and to go play. It is a true cat and was to be rigged with a 25hp, but now it has this 85hp on it. I know it use to run in the 45 mph range w/ the 25, w/ the 85 it should boot scoot...

Take care, Ben

sounds like something i might be interested in, any pics?

Ben@SRP 03-10-2004 02:46 PM

PorscheSpeed,
I'll try and get you some pictures, the boat is at my shop in Bonita Springs and I'm not sure when I will be back there this week. It's still being prep for the paint shop and then the new interior goes in so it doesn't look like a lot right now. I'd probably sell it before all of that work took place if you want to finish the project.

I was fixing to say surely someone has a pic of an overpowered Hydrostream somewhere. When I was a kid in the 70s my dream boat was a Blue metal flake 18' Hydrostream Vector with a 235 Evinrude. Hey I was just a kid :D:D

PorscheSpeed 03-10-2004 03:02 PM

hey ben,

Im in no hurry to get the pics, i would perfer to have it painted, but its ok either way.

Nigel
