Cobra Marty is spot on, I have a 43' Wellcraft weighing 25,000 pounds with 454's. If I'm going against the current in the Mississippi, I can expect to use about 2 gallons per mile at about 20 mph, and that's around ¾ throttle... 2000 rpm is significantly better on fuel.
