Question on Painted graphics????

When they paint graphics onto a white boat do they clear just the graphics or the entire side of the boat??

Say for instance it is a somewhat simple graphic design and just has a stripe down the side of the boat, would they spray clear over the white gel to reduce the "feel" of the painted stripe??? Or just shoot the clear on the stripe and then wet sand it to reduce the "feel"

clear coat

You can just clear that stripe but it will be shinier than the rest of the boat. The clear gives it more depth.

If the rest of the boat is cleared it will match. However, the more layers of paint you build up on stripe the larger the ridge you will eventually have as it bleeds off or ends into the gel or other you have not painted.

Funhome when they do there grafics such as all the blends and fades they usually will clear from the chine up because of the fades there is no way to stop the clear unless you just blended it into the white, which will leave shiney and not so shiney area not to mention every time you waxed the boat you would be peeling back a small amount of clear causing a blend line or halo around the end up the blend and look like crap. on the other hand it seem that if the graphics are done with hard lines they usually will only clear the color or use just a single stage color no clear. i have even seen by manufactures such as formula and fountain who use hard line graphics were they cleared thier color and approximately 1/4 over the color on to the white gel.
