2WD dually tire recommendations
 

I'm looking for new tires for the tow vehicle (2wd chevy dually diesel, auto with a 4.10 and detroit locker) I need to know what others are using. I'm thinking I'll be putting the boat (38' scarab on a triple axle steel Eagle trailer) in and out of the water at the local launch ramp ( Metro Beach in Harrison Twp, Mi) What are some recommendations of specific types of tires to look for considering my circumstances. On a side note I don't drive the truck much during the winter but during the summer I also pull a 28' enclosed car trailer so tire noise is not a big deal and I don't want tires wearing out at 10,000 miles from the loads I pull.

My BGF All Terrains work very well. They ride quiet, and grip very well on the ramps.
I get about 50,000 out of a set (I drive hard).
They're expensive, but worth it.

I put on the BFG's as well on my truck, it is a SRW truck, and I have put 10,000 miles on them so far and they still look almost new....

If you are not concerned about off road traction, and the boat ramp is the only slippery place you're likely to encounter, I'd recommend a quality highway tire with sipes cut into the tread. Some Michelins (sp?) have these from the factory, and some tire stores can cut them into tires' tread for a few dollars. They offer great traction in the wet, and actually cool the tire from heat-build up.

Has anybody heard anything about Kumho tires. I checked out Tirerack.com and saw great reviews about the Kumho Road Venture AT KL-41. It sounds great from the reviews, and the price is attractive, but Kumho is a relativly new tire company to the states. Chart, I hear what your saying about the sipes and I think that is a good idea. Your right the launch ramp is the only slippery place I would encounter, and I dont want to be sitting on the launch ramp spinning my tires trying to pull out #12,000 of boat. For those that are wondering why I didn't get a 4wd. I got this truck 4 years ago with low mileage (especially for a diesel) and have thought about getting a 4wd, but getting a diesel truck as nice as mine is out of the pocketbook
