I Got Ripped Off On The Internet

Just got my statement yesterday and two days ago a charge for over $800 was on the statement. I called the number and it was Internet Gambling:mad: The a$$ hole on the other end said "sorry, we can't help" I said watch your back jack, I am coming after you. The Bank was open til 7 so I ran there, cancelled the card and filled out the forms to get the money back. The Bank said no problem and would have done it then but the fraud dept ws closed at that time. Man, I feel like I was raped:mad: violated and I am done with the Internet purchases. I buy truck parts and legal and moral stuff, how can this happen. My Computer went in (this is a work laptop I brought home) and it is saturated with spy crap, the hard drive has to be wiped clean and I have Norton Internet Security now. I am so pissed, I thought telemarketers were a pain, at least you can hang up on them:mad: The Bank said they lose millions to this crap, I feel sorry for them, I don't want them to pay but it is not coming from me either. They were cool (Fifth Third) and are on it. Look at your statements, I always do and this could have been a new car or something else. The card is gone and the crooks are shut down....with me....watch out for YOU!!!

Unfortunately it is also possible they got your info with a "swiper" at a restaurant or bar. If they have access to the card, they can swipe it, record all the info, and download to a computer later-totally sux.

How did they get your card

I know, looks like we need to back to a paper society. Plastic and computers are too easy to counterfit, hell, they are constanly changing bills to protect this, why can't we have rolling numbers for cards? Use some other form of ID to complete the sale, the number is 800-432-2878. Call them and voice your opinion!!!! Last night I bought the Saturday Night Live 9 DVD set but would not use the card. They will sent the first one with a bill and I will write a CHECK for the whole thing. Screw them, no one gets my number again.

God only knows how, I think it was from a purchase I made on the net, my Computer is polluted with junk, someone hacked in and nailed me...no more online banking for me either.

Be a Chauffer for Topless Dancers - Idiots Wanted
This is true

HELP WANTED: The job offered ad for drivers to ferry topless dancers and "escorts" from job to job in Miami, Fla. attracted attention. The pay: $5,000 per week in cash plus "benefits". Those who applied were asked to wire an $865 deposit, which they were told would be refunded after their first assignment. But no one was ever given any assignments, investigators say.

Those who sent deposits were hit up again and again for "hidden job-related expenses"; one idiot sent $8,000 in total. In all, 43 applicants, male and female aged 19 to 78, sent an average of eight payments each. The alleged advertisers, Gary Janiak Jr., 34, and Tracy Silverstone, 22, have been charged with 333 counts of felony fraud. (Miami Herald) ...And each victim was charged with 8 counts of ignoring the "too good to be true" rule.

Most major creidt card companies offer a 1 time number that you can used for internet purchases. I would encourage you to use it if it is available. If not you might think about a second card with that availability for your internet purchases.

And it's been said before but anytime that card leaves your hand (such as a clerk or waiter) you have the possibility of the numbers being stolen.

They pay them around $10 a number...and if your making $7 an hour plus tips 5-10 numbers a night is a nice little suplement.

The kick in the nuts is that they don't consider you to be a victim. The back is the victim.

well the bank will not lose they will just reverse the charges, and you will not loose either, now anyone that excepted the card as in the on gambling thing or some other vendor they will be the ones that loose the money.

You hear of so many cases like this anymore, very scary. The thing I did to try to help this is have two cards. The good card never leaves my hand or I watch the person using it. The second one is my online or whatever card which I had the card company lock the credit very low and put a email every purchase type of option. Ive been ok so far...knock knock knock. Good luck with your situation.
