After sitting that long at that depth, why was it lifted?

cobra860 03-14-2004 06:35 PM

I took some pic in the cabin but it was to dark inside to see anything.

The boat was lifted by the incurance company to see if it was a fraud or a accident.

the boat was after what I heard way over incuransed.

And the old owner was clayming them for a lot more then the value of the boat.

i bet that former owner is sitting on pins and needles right about now ;) :D let us know the outcome if you can. were the drives and all the other mising stuff still on it when it came up?

SS930 03-14-2004 07:07 PM

Yep, the drives falling off in 150' of water would cause it to sink.:D

Hate when that happens!

No...They Were Not Sonic Hulls...

They were taken from an Aronow hull, like everything else was back then. They were last built in the 80's...is correct. Ed

The boats were made in south Florida by Julio DeVarona. I think production ended in 1988. They built a 24,32,37 and a CC. He took a 37 with four Merc outboards and made a few record runs from Miami to New York. The tooling was the old Viper hull that raced in the 1970's The boat in your pictures is a 37. It looks like the same one used for there promo material. I think that I still have it around here somewhere. I will try to find it and let you know more specs.

I just looked this up. There is a record that still holds for outboards from Miami to New York. It is held by Julio DeVarona in a 37 Scorpion 08/17-08/19/1984 of 40 Hrs 2Min 0Sec. I hope this helps.
