Default ??????? How can a boat be listed with out the owners consent?

This question comes from another thread regarding a boat for sale I found on Boattrader...

How in the F can you list someone else's boat for sale? I would think it would be against the law.

They probably have the boat just sitting there, and if someone comes in to buy it. They will just call the owner and say " Hey some guy here wants to buy your boat for $$$? Someone has to have the title

Thumbs down Happened to me, not with a boat- a house!

Last year I had people stop by my house and ask if it was for sale. I had a house for sale in another town for $149,000. The people that stopped by my house saw it listed on a site, "homes.com". I never listed my house with this company. Homes.com found an advertisement in a newspaper for my other house that I had for sale, did a reverse look up of my phone number, and listed my house on their site! What balls this company has! No wonder people were knocking on my door-they thought they could get a beautiful waterfront house worth $475,000 for $149,000.
When I contacted the company and asked them to remove the information, they refused, they wanted me to furnish them with the correct information! I told them to go F themselves!
It may not be illegal, but highly unethical!

Default Boats for sale

THere are time where you may find a boat listed by the owner and a broker.

For example, we are setting up in our web site to post boats for owners as a service and in appreciation for their business. In many cases, they owner may have the boat listed in other ways (ie: OSO, Boat Trader, etc.).

THere is no fee or set commission for this. If a boat is sold through the web site - the ower can use there discretion in determining the value. So far this has worked very well.

This has somewhat transpired due to the fact that in many cases I have been requested to locate a boat for a customer. This may include an initial inspection rpior to the purchaser flying out to where the boat is. Again, it is somewhat the discretion of the buyer what the value was in locating their next purchase.

The main requirement for boats for sale is that they are clean, well maintained and in general overall good condition - able to obtain a clean survey.
