Boat Sales Up nationally

http://www.nmma.org/news/news.asp?id=4558&sid=3

Every Boat show this year showed good gains in sales and the trend is up. there was a major fall off after 9/11 when people were holding their wallets closer to them. But with a feeling of more security and a rebounding stock market..things are headed up.

That's good nes because some dealers in our area still have the same boats they had last year. I was out looking and they want the same price for their leftover 03's as a new one you could get at a boat show...

...interest rates are good....fuel prices are temporily higher..but when the dollar strengthens over the next several months things will balance out..

...I see it as a turing point...

I know of dealers that have had boats new for 2 years and stilll can't sell them sitting on their lots. Time will tell. I still see some ads for boats that were for sale almost a year ago as well.

just gotta find the right seat for the right azz selling at the right price.

Let's NOT make a deal!

I went to a Formula dealer to see if I could cut a deal Friday....I told him Fountain has the 35' and 42' Executioners 2004 models at the following prices:
( showed him a fax I had with these prices from a dealer too)

2004 Models

42' Fountain Executioner 496HO's $199.00
42' Fountain EX with Hp 500's $220,000
42' Fountain EX with 525's $230,000

35' Fountain EX with 496HO's $150K
35' Fountain EX with HP 500's $170K
35' Fountain Ex with 525's $180K

The BEST they could do with boats on the floor from 2003 and graphics/options that were "low end" if you will was...( not to mention the boats were at 2 in water boat shows and dirty)

2003 38' Fastech HP500's $230,000
2003 35' HP 500's $179,000
2003 31' 6.2's $130,000
2003 29' 350"s $110.00

wouldn't budge a bit and the Rebate and financing offer expired.

...this dealer has the same boats Mr. Capo on the very same spot they were at a year ago...and considering that most boats are floorplanned and the dealer markup is upwards of 50% on some models...give me a break....

Hey I know exactly what you mean I think some of these prices are Crazy. I made resonable offers on several boats. I tell them every time. That's why you still have your boat for sale. You are asking way to much.

2003 29' 350"s $110.00 :D Anyone who pays that is crazy I say let them keep it another year.

I like when people ask just as much for a used boat as a new boat almost.

I do not think I understand your post LPA2106:confused: Are you a buyer or a seller ? If you are a seller, I see your point. If you are a buyer and what you say is true, the deals are gone. If the dealers think the economy is turning and people are freeing up their spending, they are not going to make you a deal.

So, If you're a dealer or manufacturer, the post makes sense. If you are a buyer, better hurry up and make a decision:D
