Spare Parts List

Excited newbie question...

We just entered the performance world :) http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/s...threadid=74160 and have read some great tips and lists on these boards, so I figure who better to ask than the OSO crew...

I am curious if there are certain items you keep on board as spare's for your engines and cooling systems.

I've made some quick repairs on our inboard to keep the good times rolling and interested in what you stock to keep it going.

Thanks

Prop(s) is a good idea. (I keep a plastic B1 prop in mounted in the bilge just to get me home; never used it, but its light and cheap, and rated to 300HP.)
Definately a new seawater pump impellor. (I keep a whole impellor, and housing kit, bolts included. I usually keep last season's used impellor on board too, as its easy to toss to a friend when needed.)
JBWeld.
Duct Tape.
Lots of Zip Ties, the high tensile kind with metal tooth, not plastic.
New tube of 3M 4200.
Several hose clamps of various sizes.

Full set of cheap tools in plastic kit from Target.
Nice set of Craftsman sockets. (Prop nuts.)
12" piece of 2x4 for changing props.

Always carry my cockpit cover too, in case I do break, and have to leave it for a few hours. (Did that once, without the cover, and came back after dark; boat was a mess.)

I've fixed several boats with these above parts, including my own.

spare fuel filter/water seperator is good to have. along with that keep an old 1qt oil bottle and a small funnel. if you ever have to change a fuel filter out on the water you will need someplace to put the waste fuel.

congrats by the way. welcome to the club. and look out for those Outerlimits guys :D :D :D

Don't forget an extra 12 pack of beer in case you have to get towed in. It really sucks to break down late in the day and have to get towed with no beer left!!!:D :D :D

Also, I bought one of those jumper boxes so if someone needs a jump, I wouldn't have to hook my boat up to theirs:eureka: :eureka: It's real easy to just hand them the box.
Of course, since I bought the stupid thing, not one person has asked me for a jump start!! It's a good thing to have though.

excellent lists:

Somebody forgot: motor oil, power steering and trim fluid, box of shop rags, 409, some adult diapers (to put under the motor to catchdrips while you work on it), 12v trouble light, long stick with a magnet to retrieve crap you drop under the motors, and a .090" drill bit to unplug the speedo pickup in the B1 lower unit.
