If you dont go 10' high,there will come a time when you will be kicking yourself !!!

If you can back it straight in a 10' wide door will be ok. I would go 10' high minimum. Always look to the future. I now have a 47 Fountain and I'm glad I have 12'x12' doors.

I have seen a barn with an 8' high roll up door that also had a 12' high sliding door next to it that would slide open in front of the roll up door. Front the road, you couldn't tell there was a sliding door because it looked like the front of the barn.

My 40' deep barn only has 3' of clearance with my 28' boat. I also had to put my I-beam above the 12' ceiling to have enough height to pull engines.

yup 10 foot on the door to be safe.

Here is mine 10' wide 9' tall. Plenty of room. Inside is 12' wide and 32' deep.

I just bought a house that has a pole barn with a 9' door and last weekend when i tried to back the boat in it while it was still shrink wrapped it wouldn't fit:eek:. For a minute there i was going to be very pissed off but when i took down the support for the shrink wrap it cleared by probably 4 or 5 inches plus the door wasn't adjusted all the way up so i could gain a few more inches there. My boat sits high enough on the trailer that i can leave the drives all the way down and probably have 6-8" of clearance with the ground (pretty high) plus i have a windshield so it's fairly tall. I would guess that for most performance boats 9' will be fine if your restricted as to how high you can go but like it was mentioned before i've never heard of anyone complaining that their garage or barn was to big or tall. One more thing too, if your going to go with a 9' door make sure you get an opener that doesn't hang down below the door when it's open.
