Roger, the flatest route is to take 65 south to 231 south to 10 east and over. I have taken 65 ll the way to 10 then east and it takes you about 400 miles out of your way vs. the 65-24-75 route. I am told 231 through Alabama moves along pretty good. Dennis (Obnoxious) friend uses 231 when he hauls cars down there. You might talk to him. The worst part of the tri[p is on 24 between Nashville and Chattanooga. Theres one real tough stretch in there. I would avoid that area. If you need more info, shoot me an email at [email protected] or Candyman has my telephone number.

Mark / Chris

Thanks for the directions. I'll take 65 to 231 to 10 way. It doesn't look like it adds too much to the trip and I want to drive through Decatur AL. The company that I work for is planning to build a new plant there and I would like to see the area.

Roger

Mount Eagle isnt bad at all. If you have a good truck and a good trailer then its really no big deal. Ive done the Ill to Fl trip with a boat in tow twice a year for the past 10 years. 65 to 24 to 75 is by far the fastest, and Ive tried all the routes. Done the 65-231-10-75 route....seems too long for me. I've even gone to Indy and taken...I think its 70 or 72??....over to 75 and down. I always come back to 65-24-75. Mount Eagle doesnt even come into question when I hual my boat down. The only time it was even a little tough was when I brought my boat back in early early srping and I went over the Mountain in a snow storm. That wasn't a lot of fun. But other than that my trips have been very uneventful.

OK, I have a good truck and trailer and Todd's making me feel like a wimp. My original plan was to go the 65-24-75 way. I'll go back to that plan. The shorter the trip the better.

I just remember when I brought the boat home from Maryland and passing through West Virgina. I had a few tense moments.

I know what you mean Roger about those tense moments. It gets a little tense getting off the bar stool sometimes.:D

Larry,
You got mail

Thanks!

Roger, I wouldn't worry about Mount Eagle. You shouldn't have to worry about the weather now. I went that way last winter when I pulled my Thunder down and back.

Quiet Storm 03-20-2004 10:41 PM

I'm leaving in the morning and will let you know how it went next Tuesday.:D

I will drive down and fly home. Leave my truck there until the boat is finished then fly back and drive home.

Roger,
Have a safe trip. How long do you think it will be down there any ideas?

Mark
