Default Is Mercury Racing and Quicksilver the Same??????

I ordered impeller and body kits, impellers, and some filters from Mercury Racing and when I opened the box today everything said Quicksilver.
If they are the same company I could have saved a few bucks elsewhere.
I thought I was spending extra for a better product that would last longer.

Yes, Quicksilver is the name that mercury puts on most of their parts because they also make parts for yamaha, omc, etc.

I feel like I just bought a high dollar coffee from Starbucks and they handed me a 7-11 coffee.

I could have saved if I would have went direct to the cheap stuff.

Dusty, not sure what you mean by the cheap stuff. The pricing and part numbers should be the same (subject to your dealers discount policy)regardless. When you say you ordered from Mercury Racing what do yo mean? They do not normally sell directly to a consumer.

I guess it wasn't really direct from Mercury. I ordered online through Mercury Racing and had a choice of five dealers in my area that would ship parts to me. The service and quick delivery was great. I just thought there was a difference in quality.
I'm thinking rational now and will be installing on the boat this weekend now that OSO has clariffied they are the same part.
Thanks for the help.

I'm not sure I understand the concern.

You ordered and bought genuine Mercury replacement parts. Probably could have found a better discount on them somewhere, but then again, maybe not.

As far as cheap replacements, there are other sources for your water pump parts with different brand names on the label (Sierra is one). But I've found no discernable difference in the quality of any of the Sierra impellers and water pump pieces than the Merc/QS ones. And Sierra is usually less expensive.

There are other impeller makers, some of which offer special features or construction.

Generally Merc/QS stuff is good stuff. Sometimes it doesn't hurt you to get cheaper parts for a particular application (water pump, distributor caps), and sometimes it is advantageous to go to a premium aftermarket source in order to find parts BETTER than the Merc parts (plug wires, oil filters, bravo caps).

cheers
