Dont worry, all the Manatee supporters will be out in droves to protest this one. I just wonder how many of these people have actually seen a real life manatee.

Just read the article. Very very good. About time we took a scientific approach to this and stopped listening to the "sky is falling" Save the Manatee Club.

Remember: over the last 10/12 years, boating and boating registration in Florida has skyrocketed, yet at the exact same time the Manatee population has increased by over 300 %. We have to be doing something right, despite what the Save the Manatee Club would have everyone think.

No problem Cash! :)

On a related note, I just received my newest Boat-U.S magazine and the latest manatee news is that Manatee deaths have increased, but deaths by boats have decreased sharply. More good news to get the $TMC off our backs.

They're just fanatics that wont be happy till all boating is stopped so there is no chance that a single manatee could be hit and injured. As a northerner who just moved here, I get the impression that these people approach the manatees from almost a cult standing. What, are they some kind of sacred animal. Dont get me wrong, I'm not advocating the slaughter of the animals. I do think they are different and kinda cool, water cattle. But come on now, I like deer but am not going to advocate that we elevate all highways so that no deer get hit by traffic.

I think the State has finally caught on to the Mananazi Club and there is a shift to more common sense regulations. However our problem remains with "The Man"
We recently had some state zones thrown out in a court ruling and even by the appelate court. So the Feds stepped in and the first thing they did was say "ok, no speed zones, no docks!" or something to that effect.
So now they are going to come in and declare these unprotected areas, Federal Zones. Which not only costs more in fines but makes you a Federal Offender. Nice Huh? Now they are getting the FFWC to join in on the enforcing policies so they too can write Federal tickets.
They've also taken the Caloosahatchee River and turned it into a year round 25 MPH zone. This is not some small congested waterway, it's over three miles wide! This is where we test our boats so we're pretty screwed.
The whole thing is absurd.
Please help us!
