how to kill a boat lift

I think this owner bought a bigger boat than his lift capacity and/or decided he could back it in and lift it. Note the end of the tanks are under water.

Folks, don't try this at home. :(

It was probably fine until bajabob went and layed down up in the bow :)

It is possible that the lift is the right capacity for the weight of that boat, but it could be set up for pull in. You can take a 15K lift and put a 6k# boat on it and bend the lift. It's all in the setup.

Just needs the tanks readjusted for the new position.
No biggie.

He better hope the brackets on the dock are secure, if one of them pops off from the unbalanced load, he will be in for a world of hassle (I know this and have the twisted metal to prove it).
