Life Jackets and where to buy tem
OK. Ok. I missed out on Albert's Poker Run Lifeline life jackets. Someone snuck in there before me. But, I still need two cool poker run life jackets for the summer. Does anybody have any for sale or does anybody know where I can get some... that is without paying for new Lifeline's. They are definitely over priced.

I ordered the Rock n Rescue ones just like in the picture from the previous post. They are ok..they dont look as good as they do in the picture. They are "average" quality, but CG approved.

Ben from SRP is on the board too.
|
Thanks Cord...
Yes SRP does offer PokerRun Lifejacket starting around $200+. They are very high quality and we can add colors and embroidery logos also. Take Care, Ben www.SecurityRace.com or www.HedrickMotorsports.com |
Ben,
You guys have alot of Jackets to offer! Are the Poker Run jackets CG approved? |
Ben - I checked out your webstite and looked at the Green jacket with the 2 pull tabs at the bottom. Does the jacket have flotation and then when you pull the tabs you get more flotation. What's the story here Ben?
Can you get a collar like the lifelines have? What about floating you upright if your boat flips? |

Semper Fi,
Unfortunately no "ballistic" impact PokerRun jacket is USCG approved (that I know of). All you need is to have a orange standard cheapy on board to be legal. There are USCG approved high speed jackets out there, most are water ski or bass boat jackets and really wouldn't help in a high speed accident. Hope that helps. Ben |
Spectre Man,
The jackets that you are looking at are AirVest for canopy and racing applications. You can use them for open cockpit boats although they provide very little protection from impact. They are designed to be deployed after you are out of the canopy and are on the surface. They have two bladders in them, hence the two pull tabs. Hope that helps too. Ben |
Ben - Please post some pictures of the SRP jackets I would want to use for everyday use, not just races. It is just my self and my wife cruising around in our 36' Spectre. We need something highly visible, cool, comfortable and obviously useful in the event of a mishap.

I would not buy anything that requires 'pulling a tab' if you are in an open boat. During a power boat crash, you are being flung so violently, you'll never have the opportunity to pull a tab, much less find it. If you get bumped on the head while falling overboard, and knocked loopy for a few seconds, the pull tab jacket will be worthless. If the boat is going to be running 75 plus, you should definitely think about getting a jacket with "impact" material. It should also have leg straps to keep the jacket from pulling over your head, and material strength should be 100mph rated. I've been in three crashes, and believe me, they happen too fast to be able to mess with tabs. I've also been knocked into the water and momentarialy stunned - twice - so I'd never give up my race jacket which is designed to keep my head turned up and afloat. When your arms or legs are injured, you can't roll yourself over too well. And when you are knocked out or have the wind knocked out of you, it's impossible. Don't worry about Coast Guard ratings. Just keep some $10.00 pfds on board, and you'll be in compliance with the CG laws. As long as they are within reach in the boat, you're ok. |
Yes BK is correct... We do not recommend the AirVest for "open cockpit" boats, only canopy boats. Also yes, the $10 PFD is all you need to be legal. The full blow ballistic impact jacket with leg bands is the safest way to go. I don't care if it's LifeLine or SRP's. I know what a 36 Spectre can do (MPH's) and we do recommend a full racing lifejacket.
Good luck, Ben |
Thanks BK and Ben. Your advice is well taken. Ben how about some pictures.
|
Sorry Spectre Man... Got side tracked, did you want pictures of the PokerRun Jackets, AirVest, or Racing Jackets?

My wife loves the yellow one with the black and white checks. I think I'm gonna order 2 of them with our names embroidered on them from Ben.

Can someone post the cost of these poker run life jackets? Are they "self-righting" ? (as in roll you over in the water?- hope you know what I mean)
I would like to compare them to the lifelines. Thanks- Adam |
These Poker Run Jackets for a base solid color is $275 (sometimes they do go on sale, or quantity brings that down), then with the double flames you're looking at $110 extra and for the checkered flags add $75, and the custom swoosh it will add around $120.
Ref. the "roll over" these jackets are not "designed" to truly roll you face up, although depending on the size of the person, they can. Nobody in this business will ever "guarantee" that a lifejacket will roll you up right (to much liability). The neck collar that we add helps, but it not a sure thing. They are constructed with ballistic material for impact, lifting straps are available, and crotch straps are standard. They are very comparable to Lifelines, if that is what you are comparing them to. (SRP's are better I must say.) Hope that helps, Ben |
Just ordered mine from Lifeline. They will custom fit as I'm sure Ben will also. They even spoke highly about SRP also. It's nice to know that competition in the marine industry can be civil and respectful of each other. (no bashing;) ).
I'm sure you can't go wrong with either of these products, and you surely can't put a price tag on safety. Thunder32 |

Thunder32 Racing, Poker Runs, or just High Speed on the water, IT IS Dangerous and both Lifeline and SRP are simply here to help make it safer for all of you out there. Both of our companies have and will continue to provide a good product to this industry and, I think I speak on Lifelines behave also when I say this... Thanks, Ben |
keep up the good work Ben....;)
