Originally posted by dockrocker My wife will definitely disagree with you on that one - it is great to be able to actually hold a conversation when you're running. Of course, it makes it hard to pretend you didn't hear her telling you to slow down.... ;) G |
I have a portable aviation set-up and love it on longer runs...short ones we dont get it out. Its also nice if you interface it with your radio then you can talk between boats or call the marina at speed....

Parnell has a set up he enjoys.
Personally I enjoy no one being able to talk to me for an hour or two out of the day. If it's important they can point! :D |
I have had intercoms in both my Daytona and my Jag and would not even think about running without them. Conversation is impossible at speed and I usually enjoy the company that I invite along. The safety factor of having extra spotters during poker runs is invaluable. I like to know what's passing me and on what side, I never seem to have the fastest cat! Doug

i am selling my portable one... 4 headsets incl.... hooks to audio system and all works great... upgrading to a full custom installed one (spoiled by parnell's system) so i will part w/ the low $$ one so i can order the big $$$ one

I have been looking at the revolution marine intercom with the throat mics and alarm interface. I have been looking for pros and cons on both systems.
|
Thanks for all the input-

We ran a racing communications 4 person system in a scarab... Was GREAT underway, we could listen to the radio and talk with a normal voice. It was stated before also, having a few extra pairs of eyes during a poker run always helps.

We use them in all our boats, call if you need pricing on a system, we have the best prices on Avcom Systems.

I've been thinking about getting a set on my boat. Who makes good head sets at a good price!
|
AVCOMM makes all the ones for military and helos, we thought they were the best line to carry when we picked them up. A lot of other brands are simply AVCOMM with another label on them.

I've used Racing electronics Gemini system, it works good and is cheap. It is a pair or headsets (or you can link in a third) that are linked with PTT and you can listen to an outside source, Raido, scanner and such. Probably not the top of the line but for under 300 bucks and its totaly self contained. My 2 cents
|
The Revolution Marine system is nice because there is Zero wind noise. You can also whisper and the system will pick up the sound from your throat.
Wind noise sucks in an intercom. |
I don't know the brand, ( I think Racing Communications ), but the ones that Outerlimits installs in their boats work great. We have six head sets, and very low interfearence from wind noise at high rates of speed. I couldn't imagine a poker run w/o one.

Parnell installed my units ,works great family and guest love it...
|
yeah mines the avcom sys w 4 aviation grade headsets and voice activated mics... for sale 500 used 4 times new 1000
|
I don't remember the original intercom we were using in the Corsa last year, but we tried the Revolution Marine intercom system with the throat mic and were sold.
Of all the years racing everything from Factory 1, A, P-4, and Open cockpit Super V, The Revolution Marine setup was the best of all. Check em out at www.revolutionmarine.com |
How's the stereo quality in the headsets? I understand the the RMs are not true stereo, how about the others?
