Anyone here ship motorcycles....

or know someone that does? It appears I may be buying a bike in Tennessee and need it shipped to NY. I have contacted 46tomcat and left him a message and I PM'd here from OSO this morning. I am not certain if they haul bikes or not. In the meantime does anyone here do this or know someone that does and whatthe approximate costs would be?

Shipping from Clarksville, TN
Shipping to Rexford, NY

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Shane

I've used JC Motors before with very good results. I want to say it was $850 to ship from KS to CT, but I had a slightly over-sized bike (9' 8" @ 630 lbs). CT to FL was around $725 last time. JC Motors works as a contractor for shipping. They supply a new heavy duty oak skid for shipping, new HD padded tied downs, and a cotton cover. They then contract a major carrier to do the move. When the bike arrives at your house, you inspect and sign. You can keep the skid, tie downs, and cover or leave them with the carrier. A real class act.

You'll find most companies will take a few weeks to "bunch" shipments. You may find cheaper rates (I found $600-$900), but I'd go with someone that specializes in bike transportation... you don't want to worry about Joe the fork truck operator loading and unloading skids of Dog Chow next to your bike!

augie pensa shipped my bike down to florida like a year ago. They happened to have a truck going that way though. I doubt he'd be able to ship one to a place he didnt; already have truck going to.

YOu can also try forwardair.com i've shipped a bunch of stuff with them. Thier prices are pretty good. Either you nbiuld a crate and drop teh biek off at thier terminal or you can use one of thier bike shipping crates.
