Can someone give me good directions to the best boat launch on the NY side. I will be coming north up the NY Thruway.

Also should get a chart of the lake (never been there before).

thanks

Toolman,

Can you give a bit more info as to where your staying and where you wish to visit?

Coming up early sat. morning to launch boat, would like to stay on the boat overnight either at a marina or raft-up with someone in the group.

Anyone else doing the same?

Tool,
Right now I plan to arrive 10/11 am. I'll be coming from NH Saturday morning and heading home Early Sunday morning. I figure I have an 8/9 hour ride back to S. Jersey. I'm launching at Mallett bay. I forget who...but sombody else was coming late Friday night and was going to stay in the parking lot there(on the boat). GLH said , no problem with that.
I second that chart thing too. No luck locally , gonna try Boat US Friday. Been told where to go plenty but I like to know where I am

Toolman,
I'm coming up on Saturaday morning too. I'm coming up from the Albany area and always launch at the Westport State launch. This is a really nice launch right off I-87 and about a 3/4 hour ride to Mallets Bay. I plan to stay out on Saturday night - most likely at Valcour Island, there are some great anchorages there.

Friday night most likely we will spend the night at the Turtle.

Saturday Night we will play it by ear, but depending on the wind we will stay at the best appropriate place at anchor and all BETTER join us!!! We will figure the spot at the Turtle during lunch after the last stop.

Tool and Splash,

My suggestion would be Peru Dock, a state dock also very easy from I-87. You can throw a stone to valcour island from this launch, and very close to the Naked Turtle which I'm sure you've heard everyone talking about. Malletts Bay is basically straight across the lake from Peru.

Peru Dock is very much in the middle of Rouses Point and Westport. Most of the activity is close by.

Be happy to share directions if interested.
