You are using the wrong type of pump. You need a TAT oil change pump. TAT is the manufacturers name. Warm the oil up, this supends all the particles, and the TAT pump will do it's job.

I like using the dipstick for oil changes. Works well for me.

Oil must be warm, else it won't cooperate..

Ever notice that Merc dipstick tubes have a weird washer thing on top of it? That's designed to screw a garden hose onto an use the ID of the dipstick tube to remove the bulk of the oil. Use the teeny anteater hose to suck out the last scraps if you want, but the bulk of it will come out from the tube itself..

I use the "hook up to the battery 3.5 gallon pump-it-out-the-dipstick" contraption.:rolleyes: Works great!!
How much faster does it do it with the big hose? With 12 qt. pans, it's not just one beer per engine!!:D :D

I use a hand pump with warm oil.

Just for laughs once i took a heavy duty trash bag put it under the plug and drained the rest of the pan out after the hand pump . I got at most about 1/4 of a Quart out

i use the Tempo vac pump canister type and it works well with warm or cold oil. came with fittings for the merc style dipstick tube that mcollinstn mentioned above and also a skinny tube you can snake down there. i have quick drain hoses on both pans and i still use the dip stick method instead. the Tempo one is the best one i have used so far but also the most expensive. its like $65.00 and it took a while for me to plunk down the $$$ for one but in the end it was worth it.
