Going to Sri-lanka, island off India????
 

Haven't posted in a while.

Got a contract for a couple of small power plants to start up in Sri-lanka. Its an island off the coast of India. Has anyone heard of this place??? I'll be there for 2 or 3 weeks.


Any insite on this place would be helpful. I'll be flying into Colombo.

It's a VERY poor country. Be careful of what you eat and drink.... sanitation in most parts of the country is not what you would call "good."

Do a google search and I'm sure you'll come up with all kinds of info.

About 20 of my crew were from there..When I was in the Middleeast..

On the good side the absolute best Tea in the World, Plenty of fresh vegetables and Fruit..

The Sri-Lankans I had were respectful , nice people and very good workers Plus they Liked Americans ; the native ones are Buddhists.

The down side a guerrilla war (caused back in history by the British who brought in Indians to pick Tea and they eventually became the Tamils)

I had both factions in my factory and never had a problem ever.. They do a lot of Fiberglass there Check it out..Barefoot in wet glass LOL no for real !!

I found out they have some really cheap software and also dvd movies. They also sell hacker software here.

A buddy of mine just bought 10 dvd's new in the box for 20 bucks. They were all new releases!

Any recommendations on software that might be nice to have??????????

Sri-Lanka... sure.... it used to be called Ceylon.... I understand there is some civil strife there... don't get kidnapped and held for ransom by the Tamil Separatists.

The software and dvd's he bought all work with no problems.

Pay attention to your surroundings, if you want trouble it is never far in a third world country, know the number to the embassy or consulate, get a brief on terrorist activity in the area from the state department web site.
enjoy the food, just take some ammodia (sp) ad. have fun. i will be in a oversea's for a couple of weeks, in a not so great place as well. good luck
