Elbow Grease and quit running Premium!! If all else fail's,, I use Acetone!!-{spell Check}

MnFastBoat 04-05-2004 06:03 AM

stop running premium??
Does Premium gas actually give more Soot??

I would think it would burn cleaner :(

Maybe that is why mine is so dirty, because all I run is 90+

Try Simple Green, the stuff works GREAT on transom soot!!!

Sydwayz 04-05-2004 06:30 AM

Lowest octane you can run without pinging and Simple Green. Also, assuming you have an EFI, as the season warms up a bit, your soot will decrease.

!Black streak remover! Starbrite. Works great

If you keep the transom waxed, it helpes too.

Macklin 04-05-2004 06:51 AM

Premium will make the computer / engine run rich which increase soot.

Keeping the transom waxed definitely makes clean up much easier. For the really tough soot go to West Marine and get a bottle of Black Streak Remover that Ray mentioned. ;)

After you remove the "soot". I highly recommend that you apply Frenzy. This will aid in removal the next time around. You will literally just have to wipe it off. I have seen this with some of my race clients.
