Where to stay in the Keys?

We are getting married in June and would like to spend a week in the Keys. Looking for places, resorts or areas we should look at or avoid. Thanks for any info.

Marathon is great that time of the year, especially if you want to do any fishing (might not be possible since it's you honeymoon). The tarpon are running under the 7 mile bridge, and the APBA race is usually there in early June/late May.

Here ya go. These are the only nice large hotels in the Keys. The rest are small rather homey motels.
Like this one..Hotel is on the bay side.

We loved this place. I'd go back in a heartbeat. Hotel is on the ocean side. Swim with the dolphins at the hotel.

This is also very nice and secluded. About a mile south of the Marriot. Hotel is on the bay side.

This is probably the newest in the keys. Real close to Pennecamp to go diving or snorkeling. Hotel is on the bay side.

Real nice, on the ocean side, very pricey.

Fly to Fort Lauderdale (avoid Miami) and take the 2.5 hour drive to Marathon. It's wonderful.........

We stayed in Islamorada at the Chesapeake Resort for 3 days of our honeymoon. Nice place except for the office had water damage from something, But the rest of the place was nice. On the Ocean. The view from our room was beautiful...palm tree and the ocean. Heres a picture of our view!!:D

I stayed at the Banyan in Key West real nice not on the water small apartments if you want a kitchen...

I would recommend Hawks Cay. We were there in February and it was so nice, we decided to tie the knot right there.

Islamorada!!!!

Stay at either the Cheeca Lodge or the Westin in Islamoda, then go to dinner at Pierre's about 3 - 4 mile south of the Westin - I think its at MM 88 - KILLER RESTAURANT - one of the best in the Keys - got to have a Mojito.... John Pennycamp park is not far and there's some pretty decent snorkeling there - the state park rents c/c boats pretty cheap... you can always run to Key West for a few days before or after, but Islamorada would be a little more conducive to a honeymoon....

Hey Dirt!

Have not seen you on here (or the streets, water) in a while. How is the Fountain running? I still have the 38 Special but have done some looking around for something larger (and a little faster). Did you find a house yet? The guy that I introduced you to at St Pete races sold his house in less than 8 hours after putting the sign out front. Look forward to seeing you soon somewhere around the bay.

Hey Keith -

Life is going well - leased a place in Harbour Island for a while - living the easy life - close to work, boat's on a lift about 100 yds away....

The Fountain is doing well - the blower is being rebuilt - 200+ hours on it - time for some maintenance. We've done a lot to the boat since last summer - running an imco drive w/ a 2" shorty and a 30P Bravo prop - boat handles significantly better - little or no bow rise, even trimmed out. I'll be back in the water the weekend after Easter - we need to meet up at the Rattlefish. I'll contact you via email.

Mike - how come you didn't make Miklos' party? Missed a good time... the Llama was in rare form, as was Robbie, et al. Baja Daze made it.... where were you????

I'm planning on boating next weekend - let's meet up. How's the Concept?
