More dam boat info needed

After good talks with Terry Sobo and Randy at Lake Cumberland marine. I have dropped all the bravo boats from my list. Terry would like to sell me that 98 50 he has, rumor has it that it is from Loto. It looks to be a hell of a boat with a huge stereo in it. Randy has a 01 42 OL coming in soon at a good price so any info on these two would be great.

Ok now the hard part, how in the hell do I post a picture that I downloaded on my puter with win zip?

Lapse, you talking about this boat. When I was down 3 weeks ago, I checked this boat out, very clean, great price.

in oder for you to see the pics inside a zip file they had to have been unzipped. just look for where they were saved after unzipping them and post em. they are most likely in the same folder as the zip file and are probably postable since they have been unzipped.

LapseofReason 04-10-2004 06:34 PM

I have them unzipped, I can see them I just have no friggin clue as to how to post them.

Yes thats the Nortech, if you have any more pixs please post them they are better than the ones Terry sent me. Did you hear the stereo ?
I geuss it being 6 years old it's lost most all it's going to loose unless I trash it.

If I don't buy soon my wife is going to kill me because all I do is look at boats, but thats all I do anyway:D

Plus I just bought a new Hi Tide lift that I need to tell them what kind of boat to set the bunks for when they install it.

Steve_H 04-10-2004 06:45 PM

have you ever posted pics here before?
if not , all you have to do is click the reply button , type something in (anything) , then lower down click the browse button. find the pic in the folder , highlight it , then click open. hit submit reply and it should show up unless there to big. then you have to resize them.

or , send them to me and ill post them for you if you want. i can resize them also.

Lotoparty you are the man, But I still didn't learn anything.

So what do you guys think

98 50' Nortech tripp 850's #5's 95-100 mph for $250 ish.

or

01 42 OL 1100 Cobras 6's 120-125 mph $350 ish.

Right now I am leaning Nortech, a 100K is a lot of coin and the Nortech is more raft up party friendly.

BigSilverCat 04-10-2004 08:05 PM

nortech bigger with more reliable power and 100k less is that a question? for that extra 100k i will build you motors that will make it faster then the ol. and then you would have the best of both worlds.

LapseofReason 04-10-2004 08:20 PM

I don't think we will get 25 mph out of it, but I hear what you are saying. I'll keep you in mind for the rebuilds but I will be doing most of the wrench turning on it unless it breaks in the summer when I'm too busy fixing motorcycles then I'll have to farm some of it out.

I am just a little worried about a 6 year old boat but I hear most of it was on fresh water. And it's not a Bayliner.

32fever 04-10-2004 09:12 PM

Well, add $60k to that 50' Nortech for the F550 you'll need to tow it:D

And I hope you have a good driving record. It'll cost at LEAST $4500 a year to insure either. Add to that the $10k+ a year or so for maintenance, gas for the triples.....
It may be even more so "raft up party friendly". LOL!

The $250k is the easy part:D:D:D But having said that, IF the $350k was a stretch, I'd go with the Nortech, just cause these boats cost a lot more to run than a 42 Sonic.

I'm jealous. Both boats will be fine, but a 50'er. WOW, would that take some time to get used to.

Which leads me to 1 question. Anyone have a full cover for a 50' boat? Do you need to hire migrant workers or recruit school kids to help you in the summer time? That's a lot of canvas.

Mark

LapseofReason 04-10-2004 09:30 PM

My F350 psd dually will get it home then it's on the lift 99% of the time.

I will be doing all maintenance myself.

My driving record couldn't be better.

I pay $3500 for the Sonic's insurance so a $1000 or so is OK.

I am having a 500 gal. fuel tank put in at the house in the next 2 weeks so I can get 93 oct at $1.75 a gal.

My friends use to put the gas in the Sonic but now that I will need Hi test and am putting the tank at the house I just wont pay for any of the bar tabs now:D

As far as the 8 more feet, it's just going to be harder to get into small spots. My wife already said she didn't like the yellow on the OL and rather save some $$ because she knows when I get back with the Nortech I am already going to know what I want next:D

LapseofReason 04-10-2004 09:41 PM

I know I'm going to regret getting rid of the Sonic, I have never had a problem with it, but I have been racing since I was 5 and gave it up to save my body and have more fun with the family.

In 98 I had a Scarab that did 80 sold it in 2000 for the Sonic that will do 75 on a good day. That was fine then but now if you can't hit 100 you are bringing up the rear in a poker run. I hate not running up front, I know it's stupid and dumb but I hate having my a s s handed to me. The Nortech may not be the fastest thing out there but god dammit I'll get there in style.:D

I just need the new lighter boats like the 39 OL doing 102 with 525's to get into my price range. 3-5 years thats the plan.

You know what I think OL all the way!!! Although I would check on the insurance numbers, My driving record is clean, and have many years experience with Cats, and V's, my insurance is with PMI, and its more than what you are quoting. They were the lowest quote I got when we were insurance shopping.

Boomer 880 04-11-2004 08:01 AM

Nortech 50 would be my choice. You will appreciate the extra hull length and weight in big water. Also, $100K goes a long way in gas, insurance, and upgrades (if needed). Finally, the 50 has a huge cockpit for lots of people to party with.

Also, now Terry will/might/could hopefully work with me on the price of a 43, as I pointed the boat out to you :). Teryy???

Good luck with your choice (fun one to make)!!!

Jassman 04-11-2004 08:30 AM

Lapse, you made the right choice, I feel the deprieciation on that boat has allready taken its hit. The paint is pretty cool, but thats personal taste, and can easily be modified to your liking, I can help you with that, if you like. You mentioned that you would miss your Sonic, I had a 42, trust me, you'll get over it, real fast. I know you wanted to go 100 mph, its close, but since you wrench, after this years season, you could do a freshening up with a little more power. The main thing is you have a boat that will crush waves, and do it being comfortable, and still be ahead of the majority of the poker run group. I congradulate you, and hope to see you on a few poker runs, if you need any help with anything, feel free to call me Jeff Jassby 228-216-0900 cell. Have a good Easter.

LapseofReason 04-11-2004 11:29 AM

Hey Jassman any more good pictures of it ?

Jassman 04-11-2004 01:52 PM

I took a bunch of them, but Sandy puts them in the computer, (I dont know how to) can't seem to locate anymore, sorry.:( Jeff

cuda 04-11-2004 03:05 PM

I think the Nortech is a great boat. I'd take it for $100k less than the OL.

LapseofReason 04-12-2004 08:05 PM

Ok the deal on the 50 is in the works so any info would be great, I don't want to buy it and hear, great boat to bad those three little babies died in it. I know it spent a lot of time a loto so if you got pictures please post them.

LapseofReason 04-12-2004 09:56 PM

Dam my last post on this was like 2 hours ago and it was already on page two, this thing is a 98 there has to be some dirt on it:D
